Goodbye With Love is designed for families navigating a major life transition that involves a home. This may include a deceased estate, a move into aged care, a significant downsizing, or a situation where the practical responsibility for the home has become difficult to manage alone. If you are unsure whether the service is appropriate, the best first step is simply a conversation. There is no obligation, and I will be honest with you about whether I can genuinely help.

What happens in the first conversation?

The first conversation is an opportunity for you to explain what is happening and for me to listen. I will ask some questions to understand the situation, the home, the people involved and what is creating the most pressure. I will explain how Goodbye With Love works and what support may be appropriate. There is no commitment required at this stage.

Do I need to have everything organised before contacting you?

Accepted Answer

No. Many families contact me precisely because they do not know where to begin. You do not need a plan, a list or a clear sense of what you need. A general description of the situation is enough to start.

What does the process look like from start to finish?

Accepted Answer

Every engagement begins with a conversation, followed by a home assessment where appropriate. Based on what I find, I will provide a clear proposal outlining the recommended scope of support, the responsibilities involved, the fees and the next steps. Work only proceeds once you have reviewed and approved the proposal. Throughout the process, I keep you informed, seek your approval before significant decisions are made and remain available to answer questions.

Goodbye With Love is based on the Mornington Peninsula and primarily services the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region. If your situation is outside this area, please get in touch and I will let you know whether I am able to assist.

How long does the process take?

Accepted Answer

The timeframe depends on the scope of the work, the condition of the home, the complexity of the situation and the pace that is right for the family. Some engagements are focused and relatively brief. Others involve a longer process of working through belongings, arranging repairs and preparing the home for sale. I will give you a realistic sense of timing as part of the proposal.

Is Goodbye With Love a real estate service?

Accepted Answer

No. Goodbye With Love is not a real estate agency and does not sell property. I work alongside the family's chosen real estate agent to help prepare the home before and during the sales process. The agent remains responsible for market advice, the sales campaign and the sale itself.

Question 8

Will we have to renovate the home?

Accepted Answer

No. Renovation is never automatic. Some homes may benefit from repairs, presentation changes or carefully considered improvements. Others may be better prepared and sold largely as they are. Any recommendation should reflect the family's circumstances, available budget, timeframe, the condition of the home and whether the proposed work is likely to serve a clear purpose.

How do you decide whether spending money on the home is worthwhile?

I consider the likely purpose and benefit of the work, the condition of the home, the family's budget and timeframe, relevant professional advice and the intended sale outcome. I do not recommend work simply for the sake of doing more. Every proposed expense should have a clear and considered reason behind it. No renovation or improvement can guarantee a particular sale price, but thoughtful preparation can help a home be presented in the strongest practical way for its circumstances.

Do you offer Seller Joint Ventures or alternative property strategies?

Accepted Answer

In some circumstances, a standard home-preparation service may not be the only pathway available. Where appropriate, Goodbye With Love may discuss an alternative property strategy, such as a Seller Joint Venture. This may involve an agreed program of improvements being completed before sale, with the responsibilities, costs and agreed financial outcome documented separately. These arrangements are not suitable for every family or every home, and they are never presented as the only option. The family remains free to choose a conventional sale or another pathway recommended by their professional advisers. Any Seller Joint Venture or alternative property arrangement would be separate from Goodbye With Love's standard transition services. It would only proceed after appropriate property assessment, feasibility analysis, formal documentation and independent legal, financial, taxation and real estate advice. No particular renovation result, sale price or financial return can be guaranteed.

Question 11

Can we use our own real estate agent, tradespeople or other professionals?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you already have trusted professionals involved, I am happy to work alongside them. Where additional providers are needed, options can be discussed with you. No provider should be engaged or significant expense approved without the appropriate family authority and agreement.

Question 12

Can you help prepare a home for sale following separation or divorce?

Accepted Answer

Yes. When a home needs to be prepared for sale following separation or divorce, Goodbye With Love can help bring structure and calm to the practical process. Support may include assessing the home, developing an agreed preparation plan and arranging decluttering, repairs, cosmetic improvements, presentation and other work required before sale. The scope of work and communication arrangements are agreed before work begins. If decisions are disputed, work will pause until clear agreement or appropriate professional direction has been received. Goodbye With Love does not provide legal advice, mediation, property valuations or financial advice. I work alongside the family's solicitors, financial advisers, real estate agent and other professionals where required.

Question 13

What happens to meaningful belongings and family memories?

Accepted Answer

Belongings are not treated as simply another part of clearing the home. Before permanent decisions are made, I encourage families to identify photographs, documents, keepsakes, stories and other items that may hold personal or family significance. Where ownership, value, meaning or family agreement is unclear, an item can be placed on hold until the appropriate people or professionals have been consulted.

Question 14

What happens if family members disagree?

Accepted Answer

Family disagreement can occur, particularly when people are grieving, under pressure or have different relationships with the home. I communicate as clearly and neutrally as possible, but I do not determine legal ownership, beneficiary entitlement or who has authority to make decisions. If instructions conflict or the appropriate authority is unclear, the relevant work may need to pause until agreement is reached or legal advice is obtained.

Will you make decisions for our family?

Accepted Answer

No. My role is to make the situation clearer and more manageable, not to take away decisions that belong to the family. I can assess the practical circumstances, explain available options, identify risks and make considered recommendations. Final decisions and spending approvals remain with the appropriately authorised person or people.

Question 16

Can an older parent or homeowner remain involved?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Wherever possible and appropriate, the person whose home and belongings are involved should have a voice in the process. Their wishes, capacity, wellbeing and legal authority will all be respected. If specialist legal, financial, health or capacity advice is required, I will recommend that the family seek guidance from the appropriately qualified professional.

Can you work with family members who live interstate or overseas?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Many of the families I support have relatives who cannot be physically present. I provide clear communication, agreed updates and a trusted local presence so that distance does not become another obstacle. We will establish who has authority to provide instructions and who should receive updates before work begins.

How much does the service cost?

Accepted Answer

Every situation is different, so the service and pricing are tailored to the family's needs, the home and the level of support required. Following the initial conversation or assessment, you will receive a clear proposal explaining the recommended scope, responsibilities, fees and next steps before making a commitment.

Are cleaners, removalists, tradespeople and other external services included?

Accepted Answer

External provider costs are generally separate unless they are specifically included in your proposal. Before agreed external work begins, I will explain what is included, who will engage the provider, who is responsible for payment and how spending approval will be managed. If circumstances or costs change materially, I will discuss this with you before additional work proceeds.

Do we have to engage Goodbye With Love for the entire process?

Accepted Answer

No. You can seek support for as much or as little of the process as you genuinely need. Some families may only need an assessment and clear plan. Others may want support with a particular stage, while some may need more comprehensive assistance through to sale preparation. The scope can be shaped around what will be most useful for your family.

Does Goodbye With Love replace our solicitor, accountant, financial adviser or other professionals?

Accepted Answer

No. Goodbye With Love provides practical home-transition support and works alongside the appropriately qualified professionals involved in your circumstances. I do not provide legal, financial, taxation, property valuation, real estate, medical or regulated building advice. I also do not determine estate entitlements or administer a deceased estate. When a decision requires specialist advice or formal authority, I will identify that boundary and encourage you to speak with the appropriate professional before proceeding.
